Education

Although many of these articles are written with judges in mind, they are equally valuable for both novice and seasoned breeders. The American Pomeranian Club (APC) encourages all Pomeranian enthusiasts to explore the educational resources we offer to current and prospective judges of the breed.

Our education section is designed as a resource for judges, breeders, and exhibitors alike. Its goal is to help develop a clear and accurate vision of the ideal Pomeranian and to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Pomeranian Breed Standard. We hope this information will serve as a helpful reference for interpreting the Standard.

Both breeders and judges share the responsibility of focusing on the breed’s strengths. Breeders should strive to produce Pomeranians that align with the Standard, while judges are tasked with recognizing and rewarding those dogs that best embody its qualities. It is important for both to evaluate the whole dog, avoiding the overemphasis of any single trait. Strengths should be rewarded, and faults should be penalized based on how much they deviate from the ideal.

The American Pomeranian Club, Inc. remains committed to providing reliable, high-quality educational

materials for judges, aspiring judges, breeders, and exhibitors.
