“Genetics” is that branch of science that seeks to explain modes of inheritance. Its principles have been used, whether by fortune or design, in every branch of husbandry since man first started controlling his environment. A working knowledge of genetics requires the assimilation and correlation of three basic areas. Think of these as the what, the why, and the how. The what is the basic vocabulary of the discipline. The why is the mechanics whereby the end result is produced. The how is really the practical application of “why” – using your knowledge of the mechanics to construct your own blueprint for perfection.
Color History
The original colors of Pomeranian’s were Black, Brown (Chocolate), White and Parti. Pomeranian’s now come in a wide variety of colors, although orange and orange sable are the most common.
Now almost every possible color in the canine species is represented in the Pomeranian breed.
