White and Cream

Clear cream

There are two types of cream. One is based on the Extension (e) gene which turns all black pigment to yellow, which is the same gene that creates the clear orange. In a clear cream however there is some other (unclear) genetic factor that makes the color pale, sometimes nearly white. Clear creams are usually born looking practically white, and cannot make black pigment on their body hair, and their whiskers are clear or straw colored (not black).

Non-Clear Cream

The other variation of cream is generally born a silvery color and unlike the clear creams, they can have some black pigmentation on the body hair especially when young, and can have black whiskers. Their puppy coat may be quite silvery but will change over to a creamy color as they change to adult hair. This color is probably related to cream sable genetically.

White

Whites can vary from pure white to having some slight areas of lemon coloring, as they do in many breeds. In some cases extremely white dogs are the result of mixing creams/whites with parti colors, so they may in fact be extreme piebald creams.
