Brindle

Brindle is a pattern of striping that is caused by the dominant gene K(br). It is commonly seen in some other breeds like the Boxer. It can be hidden by self-color (ie solid black) (K) but is dominant over non-self color (k). It can appear combined with other patterns such as black & tan (where the striping will appear only on the tan parts of the dog), and parti-color, and merle (although mixing those two patterns is not desirable as it makes the merle pattern hard to detect).
